Each heading below links to the town’s own page for that service, so you always land on the current version of the form, notice or schedule.
Money
Tax bills are mailed in July. Payments can be made in person, by mail, or online through the state tax portal — and the town offers a monthly payment plan for anyone who needs one.
A monthly payment plan for anyone with a tax obligation on real estate in town that is not already in escrow — households and businesses alike.
Your government
West Gardiner is served by a three-member Board of Selectmen. Each position runs a three-year term and the terms are staggered, so one seat opens every year. Meetings are every Thursday, 5:00–8:00 pm at the town office, and are open to the public.

Questions
Short answers to the things people ask the office most often. When in doubt, the town office is one phone call away.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, and Thursday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. It is closed on weekends and town holidays.
Yes. The town website links to online vehicle registration and online property tax payment. For anything that needs a signature or an original document, you will still need to visit the office — and note that licences and applications are generally not processed within an hour of closing.
Free online burning permits are available through maineburnpermit.com. The fire chief also serves as the town’s fire warden.
With E-911 it matters, day and night. Make sure the street address is marked on the building itself. If the building cannot be seen from the road, put a mailbox or post with 3-inch numbers on both sides where responders coming from any direction can see it. Reflective numbers that contrast with the background are the most visible.
Municipal positions are elected every March. School budget voting happens every June, along with any statewide or national primaries and issues. National, state and local races are in November. The town posts sample ballots and results, and the town’s fiscal year has recently changed, so check the current dates on the town’s election page rather than assuming.
The Weathervane — “a quarterly for and from West Gardiner” — is written by local authors and contributors. Past issues are posted on the town’s newsletter page, and the town also prints a business directory inside it.
